Road Projects for the Week of June 12 – June 18, 2021

222nd Ave NE and NE 19th Street

130’ of grinding and paving by Northwest Asphalt will take place, weather permitting, on June 17th. Only one lane will be done due to a watermain break that occurred several weeks ago. Full flagging, and the Sammamish Plateau Water and Sewer District (SPWD) engineer will be on site.

Upcoming Summer Construction-related Traffic Impacts

Lane closure on 228th Ave SE between SE 4th Street and Issaquah-Pine Lake Rd: Southbound curb lane to be closed 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM between June and August 2021 and may change pending further coordination with all parties. Comcast is installing new fiber optic cable for Issaquah School District’s new elementary school on Issaquah-Pine Lake Rd at SE 44th Street. It is highly recommended to find an alternative route during this project’s construction.

PSE and Comcast are relocating utility poles for the Issaquah School District’s new elementary school on Issaquah-Pine Lake Rd at SE 44th Street.

Traffic lane revisions and possible lane closures along the west side of Issaquah-Pine Lake Rd in the vicinity of SE 44th Street: Work hours 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM between July and September 2021. Issaquah School District’s contractor will be constructing a new entrance for the new elementary school. Work includes but is not limited to new curb, gutter, sidewalk, storm system, traffic lanes(s), traffic signal, street lighting and landscaping. Finding alternative routes are highly recommended during this project.

East Lake Sammamish Trail South Segment B Stage 1 Construction

The King County East Lake Sammamish Trail (ELST) South Segment B Phase 1 will begin construction with a pre-construction meeting scheduled for June 14, 2021. Following this meeting, work will be slowly starting up in the second half of June starting with survey work and construction fencing.

There will be traffic impacts related to the closure of the gravel surface trail segment which causes the re-routing of cyclists and pedestrians to East Lake Sammamish Parkway (ELSP). Additionally, there will be construction traffic on ELSP.

  • Project Start Point: Intersection of SE 33rd / East Lake Sammamish Shore Lane Drive SE
  • Project End Point: Approximately 900' south of the intersection of SE 8th Street / East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE

Ebright Creek Fish Passage Project Construction starting in June

Utility relocation for this project started in June. The City has been coordinating with Comcast, PSE, and Ziply to relocate their facilities in advance of the culvert installation. Tentatively, the City’s contractor will mobilize beginning in July. Most of the work is anticipated to be complete by September 2021. During construction, drivers can expect intermittent lane closures to allow for utility relocation and site preparation. Later this summer there will be up to a 3 week closure of East Lake Sammamish Parkway at Ebright Creek to allow for installation of the box culvert. Additional notifications, message boards, and signs will be posted to detour traffic around the closure. Please visit the project page on Connect Sammamish to learn more.

228th Avenue Curb Ramp Retrofit and Catch Basin Repairs

The City of Sammamish’s contractor will continue work on 228th Avenue to retrofit curb ramps, install concrete catch basin aprons and install irrigation sleeve crossings from SE 8th St to NE 8th St. The contractor is in the process of repairing catch basins and installing concrete aprons around the frames for both the northbound lanes of traffic. This work is in preparation for the City resurfacing 228th Avenue in 2022 and benefits the City’s ADA Transition Plan goal of retrofitting all public facilities to meet the current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Lane closure hours through the work zone will be between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Traffic will be merged to one lane through the work zone and steel plates are anticipated to be on the roadway overnight.

Issaquah-Fall City Road

The closure between 247th Place SE and Klahanie Dr. SE opened on April 16, 2021. There are many people, businesses and organizations to thank and acknowledge.   • The Contractor will return in June to begin the excavation for the stream mitigation work.

Improvements at East Lake Sammamish Parkway and SE 43rd Way Roundabout

This is a City of Issaquah project. The City of Issaquah is planning summer road improvements work at East Lake Sammamish Parkway and SE 43rd Way Roundabout. The project intends to improve safety for all road users, increase visibility, and facilitate pedestrian movement at the intersection. More information will be posted as we receive it.
