Road Projects for the Week of July 24 - 30
Utility Work on Issaquah-Pine Lake Road
On Friday, July 25th Puget Sound Energy will be working on a power pole, closing the southbound lane and alternating traffic through the work zone on Issaquah-Pine Lake Rd just north of the SE 32nd Way and the Issaquah-Pine Lake Rd roundabout. The closure will be from approximately 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM with traffic control through the work zone.
Crosswalk Restriping
King County will replace 21 existing crosswalks throughout Sammamish over the next week. While the thermoplastic striping typically cures in an hour or so, there may be short traffic delays.
Upcoming Summer Construction-related Traffic Impacts
Construction along Issaquah-Pine Lake Road between SE Klahanie Blvd and 238th Way SE: Construction activities continue along Issaquah-Pine Lake Rd between SE Klahanie Blvd and 238th Way SE. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes around the construction zone. Construction work involves constructing a new entrance, signal, and frontage improvements for ISD’s new elementary school #16 at SE 44th Street. Work will make it necessary to occasionally divert traffic around work zones however two lanes of traffic will be maintained. This is expected to last through September 2021.

228th Avenue Curb Ramp Retrofit and Catch Basin Repairs
The City of Sammamish’s contractor will continue work on 228th Avenue to retrofit curb ramps, install concrete catch basin aprons and install irrigation sleeve crossings from SE 8th St to NE 8th St. The contractor is in the process of retrofitting curb ramps along the corridor with work expected next week at SE 4th St, NE 4th St and NE 8th St. Only one corner of an intersection will be impacted per intersection. This work is in preparation for the City resurfacing 228th Avenue in 2022 and benefits the City’s ADA Transition Plan goal of retrofitting all public facilities to meet the current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards. Typical lane closure hours through the work zone will be between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with traffic merged to one lane.
East Lake Sammamish Trail South Segment B Stage 1 Construction
The King County East Lake Sammamish Trail (ELST) South Segment B Phase 1 continues with construction. There will be traffic impacts related to the closure of the gravel surface trail segment which causes the re-routing of cyclists and pedestrians to East Lake Sammamish Parkway (ELSP). Additionally, there will be construction traffic on ELSP.
- Project Start Point: Intersection of SE 33rd / East Lake Sammamish Shore Lane Drive SE
- Project End Point: Approximately 900' south of the intersection of SE 8th Street / East Lake Sammamish Parkway SE
Ebright Creek Fish Passage Project Construction
Utility relocation is on-going. Comcast and Ziply will be allowed to work on East Lake Sammamish Parkway between 3:30 to 8:00 PM during the upcoming weeks. The City’s contractor is continuing work on the sewer and water bypass and relocation in preparation for culvert installation. Drivers can expect intermittent lane closures, please drive carefully through the work zone. Starting around late August there will be up to a 3 week closure of East Lake Sammamish Parkway at Ebright Creek to allow for installation of the box culvert. Additional notifications, message boards, and signs will be posted to detour traffic around the closure. The project is anticipated to be complete by October 2021. Issaquah-Fall City Road
The closure between 247th Place SE and Klahanie Dr. SE opened on April 16, 2021. There are many people, businesses and organizations to thank and acknowledge. Take a look at the ceremonial ribbon cutting video(External link)(External link) with community acknowledgements. *Safety Reminder – Please observe the contractor’s “Sidewalk Closed” and “No Trespassing” signs at all times.
- The Contractor returned on June 15th to begin the excavation for the stream mitigation work. Stream work will continue for the next few weeks. Limited traffic delays are anticipated.
- PSE will be adjusting gas valves through the project limits. Traffic will be directionally reduced to one lane through their work zone.

Highlands Drive NE (City of Issaquah work)
This is a City of Issaquah project. Issaquah's Pavement Management Program (PMP) is scheduled to perform a crack seal maintenance treatment to Highlands Drive NE beginning Monday, July 19 at 8 p.m. and lasting for approximately 8 days. During the first week, work will be performed at night between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Remaining work will occur during normal working hours.
Traffic will remain open for at least one lane of travel in all directions while the work is being performed under lane adjustments, however delays may occur, and alternate routes are advised. Please view the project map(External link) for more details on location.
Improvements at East Lake Sammamish Parkway and SE 43rd Way Roundabout (City of Issaquah work)
This is a City of Issaquah project. The City of Issaquah is planning summer road improvements work at East Lake Sammamish Parkway and SE 43rd Way Roundabout. The project intends to improve safety for all road users, increase visibility, and facilitate pedestrian movement at the intersection. More information will be posted as we receive it.
