Housing Action Plan Housing Needs Survey

In early 2022, the City of Sammamish was awarded a grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce to develop and adopt a Housing Action Plan to increase affordable housing options and a wider variety of housing types within the City. The first part of this work is community outreach and data analysis to better understand the future housing needs in Sammamish. This will include a survey that will be rolled out to Sammamish community members in two phases:

Phase I (Ending July 10th): Randomly selected Sammamish households got a postcard with information on how to access the online housing survey. The responses from this phase will provide the basis for a statistically valid survey. The deadline for completing the survey as part of Phase I ended on July 10th.

Phase II: Starting on July 11th, the online survey will open for all Sammamish residents and those who work in Sammamish.

About the Project

The City of Sammamish applied for and was awarded a $99,975 Housing Action Plan and Implementation (HAPI) Grant from the Washington State Department of Commerce. Working closely with A Regional Coalition for Housing (ARCH) and a consultant to meet the grant's objectives, the City will develop and adopt a Housing Action Plan focused on several key areas. These key areas were derived from the 2021 King County Countywide Planning Policies, many of which were focused on ensuring housing equity and availability for all income levels. The City's Housing Action Plan will focus on expanding missing middle and affordable housing opportunities, expanding housing located near services and transportation routes, and addressing conflicting market demand.
